Křehký brand owners Jana Zielinski and Jiří Macek were initially taken aback when Jan Plecháč and Henry Wielgus told them that they had made these pieces for them. But it resulted in an extraordinary furniture collection, which Křehký presented as part of its installation at Superstudio Evropa. In a return to the roots of furniture making – to the moment of pure desire – in this pared-down collection the designers took some boards and hammered them together, as most of us do when we need a crate, and then transformed this pile of boards into a dresser, night table and cupboard – all objects of art which interrogate the theme of conceptual and gallery design. They also look wonderful in the interior.
