Matali Crasset from Uchronia

4. 9. 2013

French designer star Matali Crasset brings her latest mystic exhibition, Voyage to Uchronia, to Designblok in Prague.

The exhibition originally created for the prestigious Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac reflects an experimental environment, following up the recurrent theme of utopia. Its title refers to a definition by Régis Messac from 1936, when he defined Uchronia as an unknown country, located at a remove from time or outside time, to which events that might have happened but did not are relegated.

The project depicts customs and rituals of an imaginary community of human beings, leading us to a magical black mountain, a place where we can understand ourselves. The Permanents furniture pieces serve as cocoons that envelope a lying, sleeping, or sitting invisible body.

The designer, who lives and works in Paris, will exclusively present the Voyage to Uchronia exhibition as part of Designblok. Created, the exhibition will be displayed in the Art House Colloredo-Mansfeld Palace from October 7 to October 13.
