The Insulaire collection, designed by three designers from the Numero 111 studio from Saint Etienne in France, won almost as much acclaim at Designblok as the collection by Jelínek, and it is currently highly regarded all over the world. A tatami that transforms into a carpet, bolsters, a partition with a shelving system, a perfect simple sofa and beautiful lamps. Simple, yet charismatic geometry. “We see the living room as an island, ‘a space in a space’ where furniture determines the structure and creates various ways of finding comfort and use. The sofa was designed in a more traditional way; the concept of the floor as a living space is, however, very daring – the most crucial elements are the carpet and portable cushions with handles that can serve as a headrest, backrest or seat. Other furniture pieces function on two levels: adjustable tabletops can be leveled with either the sofa or the floor; lamps can function as reading lamps or floor lamps and they can also illuminate the ceiling. The partition delineates the space and extends into the storage system; mirrors and digital devices can be attached to the open part.”
