The hare, which has constituted an integral part of the Designblok logo since he was first featured on posters with the motto “You Can’t Escape Design!”, is the key character of visuals this year, disappearing from the logo. Although his time is up, the idea survives. The process of discovering design in the most common situations has brought many unconventional heroes onto the Designblok poster, such as the white horse, a cyberchild, mountain landscape, an exotic rooster, a freckled boy, and a swimmer.
While the snow-white photos by Salim Issa reflected symbols and emotions linked with themes of individual Designblok years, the hare did not utter a sound, indefatigably, yet to no avail trying to prove that one can escape design. Thus, this year the poster shows the hare, who has resigned to the fact that design concerns him as well after all. The playful logo turns into a pure, readable symbol without taking openness from its content.
The new logo, as well as the entire visual aspect of Designblok, was designed by Martina Černá from the studio of Imagery as in previous years. Photos by Salim Issa.
