Sally Bjerre Gaarde is a fashion and textile designer and masters’ graduate from The Swedish School of Textiles. Her practice explores core aspects of fashion through material-led research, methodological constraint and textile craftsmanship, critically reflecting on the field by engaging with its inherent processes. Rooted in alternative approaches to production, her work elevates upcycling beyond strategy into a poetic and critical design method, fostering new textile expressions conveyed through a formal language anchored in reality. Her work combines meticulous craftsmanship with artistic research, using textile techniques to investigate how materials carry cultural meaning and how fashion history can be reinterpreted through contemporary resources.
