Atelier Šunčík approaches ceramics as contemporary decorative art, where concept and function need not be at odds. Its output ranges from figures and lamps to vases, containers, ashtrays and objects for fragrance. Pieces that can shape an interior while remaining part of everyday life.
Behind the deliberately grand name is a single maker, David Ševčík. He conceives and makes each object himself, from the first idea to the final touch of glaze, and never makes the same piece twice. Loose sketches leave room for the clay to have its say, so small irregularities become part of the visual language rather than imperfections. The result is a collection of colourful, naïve and gently unruly one offs.
