Fashion and jewelry at DesignBlok

Fashion at Designblok this year will feature new collections from established designers, author jewelry, and work from the upcoming generation. The program will connect the Czech and international scenes across the festival’s main venues—ranging from fashion performances and jewelry dispensed from a Japanese vending machine to young talents from European schools. From October 7 to 11, the 28th edition of the festival will showcase fashion in many forms. Visitors can look forward to fashion shows by Czech and international designers, the 12th edition of the international Diploma Selection, the curated High Craft exhibition, author jewelry, student projects, as well as debates on contemporary fashion and its future.

Veletržní palác as a Showcase of Contemporary Fashion and Jewelry

Veletržní palác will serve as one of the primary venues for contemporary Czech and international fashion, jewelry, and accessories. Ondřej Stára will present the Sutara collection through an outdoor jewelry vending machine located in front of Veletržní palác, inspired by Japanese vending machines. PÁR will introduce its new open-back Mules, continuing the brand’s signature design language. Soolista is celebrating 15 years this year, commemorating the milestone with its distinctive approach to apparel and capsule wardrobes. Thee… will present the R I T E collection, which connects themes of light, darkness, ritual, and transformation while using Czech and Slovak wool from Jacob and Walachian sheep breeds. PBG Studio will bring new leather handbags alongside an apparel collection for the upcoming two seasons. Blueberries.jewelry will then present Thetis, a new jewelry collection inspired by the underwater world.

At the intersection of fashion, design, and performance, the AFTERBODY collection was created by Kahotski Eyewear × Petra Ptáčková, featuring ten glasses-masks. The designers will showcase it both within their own installation at Veletržní palác and as a fashion performance in collaboration with movement artist Jana Vrána, which will take place on Thursday, October 8, in the Small Hall (Malá dvorana) of Veletržní palác. On Friday, October 9, the Small Hall (Malá dvorana) of the Trade Fair Palace will host Volklore, a fashion performance inspired by harvest festival celebrations. The event builds upon the eponymous film by director Viktorie Štěpánová, which took second place at this year’s Student Academy Awards. Much like the film, the show bridges folklore traditions with contemporary internet culture, showcasing the work of six Czech designers and brands: ALŽ-BĚTA, AMK-Definition, Michaela Kolmanová, Slow-trashion, Tereza Váchová, and Vanami.

Prague Castle Riding School Dedicated to Fashion, Jewelry, and High Craft

At the Prague Castle Riding School, jewelry will be featured as part of the curated High Craft exhibition, which bridges traditional craftsmanship, contemporary design, and new technologies. Prominent jewelry projects include Bold studio by Markéta Kratochvílová, featuring a collection of unique bracelets and other jewelry objects crafted from precious metals and unique gemstones, and Mária Kobelová with the Precit collection, which works with the motif of ritual as a repeated, almost therapeutic gesture. Hanuš Lamr will also be showcased within High Craft with his project Uranium Lunare.

Monika Drápalová, IMRECZEOVA, and the Andrea Vytlačilová + Maison Vunka project will also enter the fashion stage at the Prague Castle Riding School. The Moravian Gallery in Brno will present a project by Lukáš Macháček at the Prague Castle Riding School, created in collaboration with photographer Jakub Gulyáš. The project revisits the designer’s Moravian roots, engaging with layers of tradition, folklore wisdom, and magic.

A standout figure of the fashion program will be Hana Zárubová with her installation Reunion. The designer will simultaneously present her collection as an independent runway show at the Holešovice Market on the final day of the festival.

Author Jewelry and New Perspectives on Fashion at the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague

The Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague will also host a prominent concentration of fashion, jewelry, and accessories. The LOVE IS BLING video installation, conceived by Magdalena Šťastníková alongside other jewelry designers, takes a tongue-in-cheek look at jewelry and tells the story of deliberately “unwearable” rings—rings that are too fragile, monumental, or extravagant. d bezdek: jewelry presents RADIUS, a collection of rings, earrings, and earcuffs inspired by the curve of light. A collaboration between Kristýna Malovaná and artist Lukáš Musil will introduce a limited collection of gold rings based on his drawings. Lhotska Jewellery will focus on new rings from the New Archeology collection. YRNCHE will offer handbags and leather accessories, as well as a joint collaborative project with Jiří Krejčiřík. Meanwhile, SOCHO hats explores the transformation of the classic hat silhouette into a contemporary design object.

UMPRUM Mikulandská Tackles the Issue of Textile Waste and Overproduction

Fashion will also appear at Designblok as a subject for reflection on the industry’s future. UMPRUM presents Wasted Waste, an interdisciplinary student installation dedicated to textile waste and overproduction. The project draws, among other things, on the firsthand operational experience of one of the Czech Republic’s largest textile-sorting facilities.

Wasted Waste forms part of the broader School Today platform, which this year connects 19 Central European schools and studios. The program will take place first at the UMPRUM Technology Center in Mikulandská and at Veletržní palác, where additional student projects will be on display.

The Diploma Selection Competition Brings Fifteen Emerging Names of European Fashion

The festival’s largest fashion showcase will belong to the upcoming generation. Diploma Selection enters its 12th edition this year, presenting graduation projects from European design and fashion school graduates in collaboration with the EUNIC Cluster Prague. Fifteen fashion finalists will present their collections on Saturday, October 10, at the Industrial Palace at Prague Exhibiton Grounds.

This year’s finalists include Elif Peksert, who examines how the city influences what we wear; Gleb Kovyrnov, who reflects on everyday life in an environment of constant digital interaction; and Kateřina Figarová, whose collection combines natural fibers with upcycled materials from boat sails. Jillian-Blair DeRose addresses emotional care in the face of personal hardship, and Tim van der Plas explores shame both as a psychological state and a performative act.

The gala evening will culminate with the announcement of the Diploma Selection Awards winners. The fashion shows and award ceremony will be opened by Aleš Hnátek, Czech Grand Design 2025 Fashion Designer of the Year, and Tomasz Umbrasz, runner-up of the 2023 Diploma Selection. This year’s fashion jury comprises international experts, including Elisabeth Dieupart, Camilla Morton, Céline Salnot from Cartier, and Millie de la Valette from Louis Vuitton.

Fashion in the Spotlight at Designblok Talks and Designblok Stage

The convergence of fashion, materials, and craft will also be featured at the international Designblok Talks conference, held on October 6 and 7 in the historic central hall of the Industrial Palace. One of the featured guests will be Pascale Mussard Siegrist from the Hermès family, founder of the Petit h studio.

Fashion will also be a major theme on the Designblok Stage at Veletržní palác, featuring lectures, panel discussions, and other programming dedicated to contemporary fashion and its interdisciplinary overlaps. The program will also incorporate the EUNIC Imagine Festival 2026 – Unweaving Fashion at Designblok, which will focus on questions of inclusion, representation, and ethical supply chains in the fashion industry.

On Sunday, October 11, the Designblok Stage will host the ELLE Fashion Talk: Móda na piedestalu (Fashion on a Pedestal), led by ELLE Editor-in-Chief Thea Prokop.

Designblok will thus bring together fashion, jewelry, and accessories across their entire spectrum this year—from signature collections and runway shows to contemporary jewelry, traditional craft, performances, experimental projects, circular design, and the emerging generation of designers. The 28th edition will run from October 7 to 11, 2026. The main festival venues are Trade Fair Palace – National Gallery Prague, the Industrial Palace at the Prague Exhibition Grounds, the Prague Castle Riding School, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague, and other locations across Prague.
