Artemide by Selene The Human Light

  • Superstudio (producers and companies)

After studying aerospace engineering, Ernesto Gismondi (1930–2020) could have gone on to design rockets, but instead in 1960 he founded Artemide in Pregnana Milanese with a clear aim: to develop extraordinary lighting to enhance human wellbeing. Today, Artemide operates in more than 24 countries worldwide with showrooms in many major cities. Luminaires such as TIZIO by Richard Sapper and TOLOMEO by Michele de Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassini are celebrated as icons of global design, and some of the world’s most influential designers – including Ross Lovegrove, Neri&Hu, Herzog & de Meuron and the Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) – create lighting for Artemide that combines design, innovation and handcrafted quality, all in keeping with Artemide’s brand philosophy: The Human Light.
