Italian Cultural Institute Prague

The Italian Cultural Institute, an institution of the Italian Government, operates under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. As part of the worldwide network of Italian Cultural Institutes, it promotes Italian language and culture in the Czech Republic.

Founded in 1922 and opened a year later, it has become an important center of cultural activities: language courses, exhibitions, lectures, screenings, concerts and performances.

The Institute is housed in a complex dating back to the late 16th century, including a cloister and a Baroque chapel. The building belonged to the Italian Congregation and was transferred to the Italian state in 1942. It initially housed the Italian House, which was later transformed into the Italian Cultural Institute.
