In my master’s thesis, I explore possibilities for working with Slovak folk culture in contemporary fashion without relying on literal quotations of folklore. The research is based on the symbolism of the female body, intimacy, rituals, magic, and erotic folk songs, which became the foundation for the collection Poetry of the Body. The individual garments translate these layers of meaning into contemporary clothing through the use of materials, craftsmanship, and symbolism. The collection was created through a combination of donated and found materials, deadstock fabrics, and hand-crafted textiles. I work with techniques such as weaving, knitting, felting, and tufting, which I integrate with contemporary fashion design.
