Designing and crafting jewelry in precious metals, Maria Kobelova pursues a refined organic aesthetic. She gives each piece the same care and sensitivity as to a work of sculpture. Graceful lines take shape in wax before casting – physical contact with the material lets Maria give form to her ideas, emotions, and experiences. The resulting curves have a tactile quality that invites touch. Rather than literal symbols, she works in abstraction, allowing each wearer to project their own personality and ideals into the piece. Jewelry has been part of her life since she was fifteen, when she began studying goldsmithing in Kremnica, Slovakia. She continued at the Ladislav Sutnar Faculty of Design and Art in Pilsen, and today creates from her own studio in Prague’s Vinohrady.
