UMPRUM’s history dates back to 1885. Its teaching is based on an individual approach, nurturing talent and developing creativity, with an emphasis on independent thinking, social values, and environmental responsibility. There are six departments focusing on architecture, design, graphic design, fine and applied arts, and art theory. Around 600 students study across 28 studios. UMPRUM organizes more than 15 exhibitions annually, more than half of them abroad. It consistently ranks among the top 100 in the QS World University Rankings and is the highest-ranked school from the former post-communist countries. In 2026, it received the highest rating, A – Excellent, in the national evaluation of research organizations, awarded to only eight higher-education institutions.
