Michaela Kádnerová is an art historian, independent curator, and writer. She graduated in Art History from the Faculty of Arts at Charles University in Prague, where her thesis focused on the work of architect Jan Kaplický. During this time, she curated the Jan Kaplický / Future Systems exhibition at the National Gallery Prague in 1999 and at the ICA in London in 2001. As an independent curator, she has organized numerous exhibitions of contemporary design both in the Czech Republic and abroad, and she regularly writes about contemporary architecture and design, primarily for Architect+magazine.
In recent years, her focus has shifted to the intersection of design and traditional craft techniques. She co-founded and curated the exhibition project Krásná práce (2017–2021), which popularized folk crafts as an inspiration for contemporary design. She followed this with the Bohemian Perfection initiative (2021–2023), an online platform supporting interdisciplinary collaboration between designers and craftspeople. Since 2023, she has been the Curator of the Design Collection at the Moravian Gallery in Brno.
