Elif Peksert Carry-On

The collection explores how displacement shapes aesthetics and the way we dress. I looked through photographs of my parents when they arrived in the Netherlands, observing how clothing became a way to preserve familiarity. Their garments carried traces of another place, allowing them to hold onto a sense of identity. To translate these ideas into knitwear, I spent the summer in Istanbul collecting stamps from architecture as a personal archive of places that I visited. This was later transformed into bold colors, patchwork jacquards, and cable designs. The process became a reflection of the collection itself: carrying pieces of one place into another. Carry-on asks a simple question: What do we carry with us, both physically and emotionally, when everything else is left behind?
