Stone. Glass. Metal. Jiří Krejčiřík presents new objects and materials– the Sand Preludium collection, the Ladislava mirror, and the hand-turned BOR21 metal fittings and handles, in several sizes and finishes. A tension between sculpture and spontaneity runs through the installation. The Sand Preludium collection is cut from sandstone supplied by Hrdina Pískovce – the stone used to renovate the New Provostry at Prague Castle – which reveals just how far a designer’s role can go. Jiří carved the tabletop of one of the three tables himself in the Vyhnánov quarry. He also hand-carved and hand-charred the Ladislava mirror. This symmetry between technology and craft, precision and expression has been long present in Jiří’s work, but now, thanks to the new materials, it speaks louder than ever.
