DesignBlok returns to Prague Castle. The historic Riding School will host two major curated exhibitions connecting contemporary design, craftsmanship and Czech cultural history.
The exhibition Design for Václav Havel will explore the influence of the first post-1989 president on the transformation of Prague Castle and present Havel as a highly perceptive patron who invited leading Czech architects, designers and artists to help reshape its identity. Highlights will include his iconic presidential office designed by Bořek Šípek, the Olga chair, Castle Guard uniforms by Theodor Pištěk, bespoke carpets, lighting and the presidential tableware service. The exhibition architecture is designed by O+M, winners of the Czech Grand Design Spatial Designer of the Year 2025 award.
The fourth edition of High Craft, presented in collaboration with Vogue CS, will showcase more than twenty carefully selected Czech designers and brands who reinterpret traditional crafts through innovative technologies, sustainable approaches and contemporary aesthetics. The programme on the first floor of the Riding School will also include presentations by Czech publishers.
For the first time, the DesignBlok programme at Prague Castle will also extend to the Chapel of the Holy Cross, where Kruh ticha, an installation by this year’s Czech Grand Design Hall of Fame laureate Eva Eisler, will be presented.
