Design for Václav Havel

The exhibition Design for Václav Havel at the Riding Hall of Prague Castle will present a selection of design projects and other works created at Václav Havel’s initiative or in connection with the transformation of Prague Castle during his presidency. Its centrepiece will be the return of Havel’s presidential office, designed by Bořek Šípek in the early 1990s, which, thanks to DesignBlok, will return to Prague Castle for the first time in more than twenty years. Alongside it, the exhibition will feature objects that continue to shape the character of the Castle interiors today, as well as works and spaces that are normally inaccessible to the public. For the first time ever, this collection will be presented together in one place.

The exhibition is organised by DesignBlok and Prague Castle to mark the 90th anniversary of Václav Havel’s birth and is curated by Andrea Běhounková and Jana Zielinski. During DesignBlok, it will be open to the public from 7 to 11 October 2026 with a festival ticket. It will then reopen with free admission from 21 October 2026 to 17 January 2027.
