Within the deconsecrated late-Baroque chapel, Eva Eisler enters into dialogue with the history, architecture and memory of a sacred site where the St. Vitus Cathedral Treasury was once displayed. Stone, light, sound and moving image shape an environment that explores the relationships between matter and time, between natural and human order, and between the experience of the present moment and memory.
Seven river boulders, the circle, light, sound and the movement of water refer to archetypal motifs shared across cultures and historical periods. The seven stones carry within their material the memory of the processes that have shaped them over thousands of years and continue to do so. In an original musical composition by Jiří Trtík, seven words resonate like a mantra, accompanied by images of continuously flowing water. This interplay of continuity and transformation offers, in a fast-paced world, an opportunity to slow down, focus the mind and find a moment of inner stillness.
Eva Eisler (born 1952 in Prague) is a designer, studio jewellery artist, architect, multidisciplinary artist and university professor whose practice moves freely across creative disciplines. In her work, crossing boundaries becomes an organic process, allowing individual works to form a harmonious whole despite finding expression through different media, structures and forms. They are united by a liberating sense of restraint and balance, through which form gains depth, meaning and a powerful relationship to space.
Eva Eisler’s work is represented in major international collections, including the Brooklyn Museum, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, and the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich, among others. She exhibits regularly both internationally and in the Czech Republic and frequently works as a curator. The recipient of numerous awards, she was inducted into the Czech Grand Design Hall of Fame in 2026.
