Our existence is determined by the things we use and desire. Collected experiences through objects are so ubiquitous that we often take them for granted. But making sense of the things that surround us is a crucial part of the meaning that people give to the world. How can someone design something with such a beautiful natural presence that it moves us? Let me try. In the artisanal approach I find the proximity to the material and to the purpose of an object and subsequently to its use – the real. In serial production, I find the logic of precision and the coldness of repetition – the artificial. A struggle for simplicity and refinement leaves friction in its wake. Organized into a functional ornament, a structure emerges – a shelf.
