This project presents a dialogue between interwar design and contemporary art. It pairs a licensed replica of Jindřich Halabala’s H-269 armchair, produced by Modernista, with original hand embroidery by Lucie Rosická. The three exhibited armchairs form a triad of values reflecting the theme of “Light” as the essence of human existence. The iconic, unbroken line of the bentwood armrest evokes the trajectory of a light ray, creating an ideal canvas for a textile intervention. Rather than standard upholstery with patterned fabric, this collaboration fuses traditional craft with fine art. The fabric was first meticulously measured, hand-quilted over many weeks, and then masterfully stretched over the armchair’s frame. We present a unique piece of collectible design at the intersection of Halabala’s legacy, Modernista’s precision, and Lucie Rosická’s signature artistry.
