Silky Gang The Tale of Prince Genji collection

The new collection by Silky Gang draws inspiration from The Tale of Genji, a Japanese novel written by Murasaki Shikibu around 1020. This collection of illustrated scarves, kimonos, and porcelain pieces offers a free interpretation of Japanese aesthetics, extending beyond the Heian period. The flowing kimonos evoke the art of origami, while diagonal cloud motifs add depth and a new dimension to the overall pattern. The scarf and porcelain design symbolizes Prince Genji’s quest for his ideal of romantic love. The symbolism of the changing seasons – representing the immutable passage of time – unifies the collection into a cohesive whole. The campaign photography was shot in Japan, capturing both the streets of Tokyo and the interior of a traditional, century-old Japanese house.
