The Odeon publishing house was established in 1925 and many prominent figures of the Czechoslovak interwar avant-garde, such as Jindřich Štyrský and Vítězslav Nezval, contributed to its publishing program. Its best-known series was the Odeon Edition, although it also issued bibliophile books and special poetry collections. The journal Revue Devětsilu (ReD), edited by Karel Teige – who also designed the company’s logo and many of its book covers – was published under the Odeon imprint as well. Since 1999, the present-day Odeon has continued the tradition of the former renowned publishing house, focusing on both translated literature and works by Czech authors. Its books are published in the series World Library, Library of Classics, Czech Series, and Poetry Edition.
