Hana Hillerová’s practice moves between contemporary art and design and is characterized by a sustained interest in material and process. Her work encompasses large-scale sculpture, site-specific installations, and experimental approaches to glass, including vessels, lamps, light objects, and glass sculptures.
For 2025, she received the Czech Grand Design Discovery of the Year award in the Designer of the Year category. In 2026, her exhibitions include a solo show at Traver Gallery in Seattle, Milan Design Week at Galleria Rossana Orlandi, Křehký Mikulov, and the Homo Faber Biennial in Venice, where she is presenting her Riot of Spring collection. This autumn, she will present new glass sculptures at the Czech Centre in Paris.
Hana Hillerová studied fine arts at the University of Texas at Austin, where she later served as Director of the Creative Research Laboratory. She lived in the United States for many years, where her projects included a major public commission for a permanent installation of twenty metal sculptures at Houston Intercontinental Airport. During maternity leave, she returned to her native Prague, where she is a member of the Mothers Artlovers collective and has increasingly focused her practice on glass.
