DesignBlok may be behind us, but its echoes live on! Until 31 October, you can see the very first lighting collection by designer and glass artist František Jungvirt at the functionalist Villa Volman in Čelákovice, presented during this year’s festival. It draws on the characteristic formal language of Jungvirt’s vases and develops it into new scales and functions.
The Garden Basic line works with minimalist shapes and soft earthy tones, Toy brings playful, undulating curves, and Bloom combines ruby glass with a heart motif. The lights are made by traditional hand-blowing into wooden molds, followed by grinding, polishing or matting, and in Volman’s villa they become a direct source of light and enter into dialogue with the functionalist architecture. The installation can be visited as part of guided tours with advance booking on the villa’s website; after the exhibition ends, the lights will move to Jungvirt’s showroom in Prague’s Košíře, and in January 2027 they will head to their international premiere at the Maison & Objet fair in Paris.
