The Anatomy of Stitch project presents a dialogue between the interwar design of Jindřich Halabala and the contemporary fine art of artist Lucie Rosická. It is a fusion of traditional craftsmanship and original embroidery that gives the timeless shape of the furniture a new contextual meaning.
At the core of the project is a collector’s triad of iconic H-269 armchairs, for which the demanding technique of hand quilting was chosen. The upholstery fabric was hand-embroidered for weeks with a motif exploring the theme of light as the essence of human existence.
The Modernista brand will present this collection starting October 7 at this year’s DesignBlok! The installation will be on view as part of the High Craft exhibition at the Prague Castle Riding School.
