The Golden One is coming to DesignBlok! The inaugural edition of the curated DesignBlok Selects showcase at the Trade Fair Palace National Gallery in Prague will feature the limited-edition Panton Chair Classic Gold by Vitra, created to mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of legendary Danish designer Verner Panton.
Fascinated by mirrored surfaces and the reflection of light, Panton was already considering a metallic finish for his iconic chair in the early 1970s. At the time, however, technology could not provide a sufficiently durable surface. More than half a century later, his original vision has been made possible by a special metallisation process in which metal particles are sealed between several layers of lacquer, with parts of the complex production process carried out by hand.
