This year’s Designblok 2020 will take place from 7 to 11 October 2020 in a unique historical space of St Gabriel Monastery, a cultural heritage site since 1964. The monastery and its premises are located in the vicinity of the Kinsky Garden in Holečkova St in Prague’s Smíchov neighbourhood.

Superstudio – space for expositions of companies, shops and producers

Openstudio – space for expositions of designers, schools and studios

Exterior – space for expositions of companies, shops and producers but also designers, schools and studios in the open-air section of Designblok

City/Galleries, Studios, Showrooms – galleries, pop-up stores, shops and showrooms or any other space the entity chooses for its presentation 

Art House – space for expositions of collector’s design

Designerie – space for expositions dedicated to the central theme of Designblok

Fashion Shows – space for fashion shows presenting collections by Czech and international fashion designers

Gastro Zones – space for presentation of products and sellers of refreshment who also sell their products

 

Superstudio

Space for expositions of companies, shops and producers

Basement, ground floor and the first floor of St Gabriel’s Monastery (Holečkova 106/10, 150 00 Praha 5)

Designblok’s Superstudio presents new releases by Czech and international producers showing their products resulting from collaborations with top designers. All areas of design are represented here, with special focus on furniture, lights and interior accessories. Over 80 selected exhibitors present themselves in Superstudio.

Superstudio also houses the Hospodářské noviny Stage, supported by CzechTrade. Every day, a rich accompanying programme takes place here and includes lectures, discussions and product, sellers and project presentations.

Openstudio

Space for expositions of designers, schools and studios

Second and third floor of St Gabriel’s Monastery (Holečkova 106/10, 150 00 Praha 5)

Designblok’s Openstudio, a creative lab of contemporary design, is dedicated to exhibitions of designers, studios, school studios and students who exhibit mostly prototypes and small-scale production without a commercial producer. Some two hundred Czech and international participants present themselves in Openstudio: these are primarily product, fashion and jewellery designers, graphic designers and illustrators. A section of Openstudio is dedicated to the Designblok Diploma Selection exhibition, a selective show of the best European graduation projects. Openstudio includes another Designblok support programme: the Erste Premiere Talent Display where Czech students present their works in a curatorial selection.

Openstudio also houses the Reflex Stage, a platform where workshops, lectures and designer presentations take place every day.

Exterior

Designblok Exterior combines expositions of Superstudio and Openstudio.

City center

Galleries, pop-up shops, shops and showrooms and any other space the entity chooses for its presentation and is produced and used by it based on existence of a valid independent legal title.

Located mainly in Prague but also in other towns in the Czech Republic. You will find all the participants in the Map.

Dozens of galleries, exhibition spaces and showrooms in Prague have become an inherent part of Designblok. They prepare their own programme and special events for the audience during Designblok. Fashion brands, pop-up shops, jewellers and showrooms open exhibitions in their own spaces, as well as Prague art schools who exhibit works by their students and graduates. Museums exhibiting and collecting design also participate in this section of Designblok. You will find all the participants in the Map.

    Art House

    Space for exhibitions of collector’s design

    The Art House space is dedicated to exhibitions of collector’s design. Czech and international designers and artist are presented here in a curatorial selection: some solo, others in collaboration with a gallery. Art House also includes an exhibition of art design related to the central theme of Designblok.

    Designerie

    Central space of Designblok

    The ground floor of St Gabriel’s Monastery (Holečkova 106/10, 150 00 Praha 5).

    Designerie, a landscape of sensations, is the central space of Designblok. Designerie is based on the Designblok theme and custom-made by Czech designers and architects. Designerie offers interactive installations to the audience.
    Designerie houses the Garden Stage where accompanying programme takes place every day, including the opening ceremony, fashion shows, concerts, and Designblok Awards.

    Exhibitors apply for Designerie following a consultation with Jan Makalouš.



    Fashion Shows

    Space for presentation of fashion collections by Czech and international fashion designers.

    Designblok Fashion Shows offer a space for presentation of fashion collections by Czech and international fashion designers.

    To apply for a Fashion Show, please contact Alžběta Gabrielová first.



    Gastro Zones

    Space for presentation of producers and food sellers who also sell their products.

    Refreshment spots are located all around St Gabriel’s Monastery (Superstudio, Openstudio, Designerie, Exterior).

    Designblok Gastro Zones are reserved for presentation of a company/shop/bistro/restaurant/food truck and for sale of refreshments. The contact person is Jan Makalouš.
