Designblok traditionally opens with Professionals’ Day and will be open to the public from Wednesday, October 8 to Sunday, October 12. The festival will showcase innovations from over two hundred carefully selected creators, studios, and prominent brands. Below, we’ve prepared a selection of events, exhibitions, and installations that you definitely shouldn’t miss.
The central exhibition, titled Courage: Women in Architecture, Design, and Applied Arts, follows the main theme of the festival and highlights the work of twenty women across generations active in architecture, design, and applied arts.
The Neo-Renaissance halls of the Museum of Decorative Arts will also host Zdeněk Vacek: DARK ’n’ LUSH, tracing 25 years of his jewelry creations and their metamorphosis into object art, as well as Design is My Religion, reflecting the work of the legendary Czech designer Jiří Pelcl. Exhibitions at the Museum of Decorative Arts can be visited with a valid festival pass until November 2, 2025.
The Lodžie exhibition space at Rudolfinum Gallery will feature the exclusive premiere of honorary festival guest Mary McCartney: Striking by PLAYCE. During the festival, Rudolfinum Gallery will also host a solo exhibition by Czech artist Kateřina Vincourová, titled Skin Care.
On Professionals’ Day, Tuesday, October 7, 2025, the largest networking and educational conference for design, architecture, and development professionals, Designblok Talks, will take place at Nová Spirála Theatre. Speakers include Erwan Bouroullec, Sabine Marcelis, Bernard Dubois, Winy Maas, Max Fraser, and architectural studios such as Snøhetta and BIG, among other leading figures in world design and architecture.
Questions explored include: How can you profit from design? Can inclusive education ensure menstrual products in schools? Does creativity work in public administration? What is the future of clothing, and what will remain of today’s fashion in 100 years? How to succeed in design after school? How (not) to design signage systems for healthcare? What is the visual future of concerts and stage design?
Designblok Stage, in Křižík Pavilion E, will offer lectures and panel discussions throughout the festival.
