On Saturday, nine winners of the Czech Grand Design Awards will be awarded geometric crystal-glass objects with an inserted fragrance vial. But they’ll be the only ones to smell the special perfume. These trophies are truly extraordinary objects. Lukáš Jabůrek, Art Director of Moser glassworks, explains: “Applying a manual glass-forming technique with the aid of a blowpipe, the trophies were made in different geometric shapes, producing a pure look and highlighting the combinations and changes of colour spectra, which are intrinsic and unique to Moser molten glass and Moser glassworks.” Each trophy is unique with a specific combination of colours ranging from basic transparent colours to opaque pastel opals and enamels. Lukáš adds: “The unique trophies require remarkable workmanship. They feature a vial with a fragrance that is precisely inserted in the cut-glass cavity with a hole for a small magnet to which the vial is attached. Each trophy bestows the winner with a once-in-a-lifetime experience – a rarified moment.” Designers Michaela Tomišková and Jakub Janďourek, who have designed the trophies, add: “The moment is intoxicating and elusive, much like the feeling of glory.”
