Apply for Designblok Diploma Selection 2016

6. 6. 2016

EUNIC Cluster CR – European Union National Institutes for Culture in association with Designblok, Prague Design and Fashion Week announce the third year of an international competition for the best European diploma (graduation) work in the fields of product and fashion design.

The competition is open to all graduate students (both master's and bachelor's) from European academies, art schools and universities who will graduate in the field of product and fashion design in 2016.

This year will bring a contest of diploma works from Bulgaria, Estonia, Lithuania, Netherlands, Flanders and Wallonia, Spain, Poland, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Norway and Sweden.

The Designblok board of curators (Jana Zielinski, Director of Designblok; Jiří Macek, Creative Director of Designblok; Adam Štěch,
Design strategy consultant and curator; Danica Kovářová Dolce Vita Editor-in-Chief; Veronika Ruppert, Journalist, speaker, Modeschau
editor Radio Wave) selects the competition finalists from each country. The board of curators may select more than one work from an individual country. Equally, the board reserves the right to decide not to select any work from an individual country.
Product designers are assigned an exhibition space at the Designblok Openstudio (the central Designblok exhibition space which hosts
about 40,000 visitors) in the Diploma Selection joint exhibition. The Designblok organizers provide exhibition architecture and lighting design. Fashion designers are given the opportunity to present their collections at a Diploma Selection fashion show event. The Designblok organizers are responsible for the production of the fashion event: venue and stage for the fashion show, 20 Elite models, make-up by Douglas and hair-styling by Toni&Guy. The international jury selects winners in both fields. Winners get the opportunity to present their latest work/collection at next year’s Designblok and are also awarded a financial prize of EUR 1,000. The winners are selected by an international jury consisting of prominent figures from leading European galleries, cultural institutions and media. All jury members are very experienced within the European design and fashion scene. Product design jury members and graduate students meet at the exhibition where each graduate student presents his/her diploma (graduate) work in person. Fashion design jury members are present at the Diploma Selection fashion shows. Afterwards they have an opportunity to meet and discuss individually the collection.
